Let's Make a Butterfly Sun Catcher!

Add a little sparkle to the summer holidays with our beautiful Butterfly Sun Catcher! A fun and creative activity for little crafters, it's the perfect activity to keep busy on sunny afternoons. Simply hang your finished masterpiece in a window and watch it catch the light, filling every day with a touch of butterfly magic.

You will need: 

  1. Toilet rolls
  2. Coloured cellophane film
  3. Coloured lolly sticks
  4. Glue Gun
  5. Scissors
  6. Pipe Cleaners
  7. Pen

Method:

    1. Cut a toilet roll into four equal rings, then gently pinch each one into a teardrop shape.
    2. Cut a square of coloured cellophane for each wing, choosing a different colour if you'd like.
    3. Place each cardboard teardrop onto the cellophane and glue it in place using PVA glue or a hot glue gun (adult supervision required).
    4. Once the glue is dry, carefully trim away the excess cellophane around each teardrop.
    5. Glue the four wings onto a coloured lolly stick to create your butterfly.
    6. Cut two short pieces of pipe cleaner, curl the ends to make antennae, and glue them to the back of the lolly stick.
    7. Leave everything to dry completely. 

    Ta-da! Your beautiful butterfly sun catcher is ready to flutter into a sunny window!
